Uncle Juan

This is a 13.5x11 foreshorting painting of my interpretation of uncle Sam. With the very popular immigration topic, I made him Mexican and put a fence in the background to develop the story more. I did the whole thing in prismacolor and started out as a picture of me which i transformed into Uncle Juan. The one thing that I would have liked to fixed is maybe the fence because I feel it could be improved.

  3. muy bueno!I like the shading in the clothes. I'm also glad you didn't put too much detail in the background, so "uncle juan" really pops out. I kind of wish you put a picket fence in the background though.

  4. I am glad you used this medium for this project after the mccdonalds one we can clearly see you have a nice little talent of using prisma color. The black background lets all the colors really pop pushing that hand even more forward...and yes the concept is great as well. Another awesome piece!

  6. Like Nicole said, this is a perfect example of foreshortening. The only thing that I would have fixed, not the fence (that looks fine!), but the hat that he is wearing doesn't look like it is sized right for his head. Other than that, you're great with prismacolour on toned paper.

  7. I have loved seeing this piece come along. The transformation from the original idea of the same old uncle sam was great.

  8. I saw this last year, well mr.brandt showed it to me. I really like it. i like how you used the black paper. oh and the fact that you drew his as this big built guy when uncle sam is an old man and isnt that built. however i think that the head looks a little small for such a big guy.
