La mano

It is an 8.5x11 drawing of my hand pushing on my closet door. I did it all in graphite pencils. I really wanted to challenge myself a bit so I picked one of the weirdest angles I could find in order to make this drawing. The angle made it a bit harder to draw and so it was a bit more challenging then I expected. All and all I was really happy how it turned, and I was proud I did not do the easy thing.

  1. Santiago,
Great job disciplining yourself and posting on time! Also, thank you for providing the dimensions and medium. Having this information really helps when I don't have the opportunity to see the physical product. Along these lines, though, make sure you are taking photos that document the quality of the piece, cropping if necessary.

This piece is a demonstration of your ability to creation realistic proportions. Additionally, you have a very good demonstration of overall contrast by using a full range of values.

I'd suggest a different approach as far as composition goes. You have a strong pattern of placing you subject matter directly in the center and usually "growing" from the bottom border. On your next piece, see if you can create more of a dynamic composition.

    Impressive work. Keep it up!
